Description
Nat Hill Wildlife Art is a rare intersection of passion, talent and hard work! After years circumnavigating the country as a naturalist, she’s finally been pegged-down in Tasmania long enough to release some of her artwork to our collaboration and as a result these stunning hand drawn works have been etched onto our custom made timber serving boards.
These Medium boards are machined to shape in our solar-powered machine shop and then the art is permanently burned into surface of the wood, no plastic paint is used in the design.
They look great out on display! You may never want to put it away inside a cupboard.
The range includes Large & Medium Serving Boards with your choice of placement of the artwork, either Centred or Offset to one side. See the links below to the different boards.
We can also provide a board without the beeswax as a vegan choice. Please add a note in your order if you wish to receive a board without beeswax. We can also manufacture custom made boards with your own artwork, contact for details.
Usage:
Can be used as a serving board but could also be used as a cutting board. The engraving is permanent however the picture would not last forever if used as a cutting board as the cut marks would eventually remove the top surface of the wood along with the engraved artwork.
Care & Maintenance:
To show your board some love, wash it with a brush and a little warm soapy water. Then dry the board and apply some oil. Leave the oil to soak in for a few hours. Most plant or nut oils are fine and whatever you have on hand will do. We use a mixture of MCT oil with bees wax and candalilla wax. We choose MCT oil (made from coconut oil) because it has better resistance to oxidation than most oils and it has almost no odour.
Dimensions:
Approximately 192mm x 345mm x 18mm
Materials and Environment:
Made from Beech Timber, hand finished and coated with Food Grade MCT oil (from coconut oil), with beeswax for protection and candalilla wax for gloss.
End of life:
If no longer usable, dispose of with your garden waste. It will be ground up and composted, becoming food for plants. If your local council does not accept wood to be put in with the garden waste and the board cannot be re-purposed then it can be disposed of with general waste, it will become food for fungi.
Whats great about this product:
Look closely and you’ll see how the Art interacts with the grain of the timber to produce a three-dimensional effect. The annual growth rings are hard and resist the heat from the engraver. In this way, each Serving Board is unique.
Packaging:
Your order will be packaged in plastic-free, all plant-based materials. Packaging materials will depending on the size and weight of your order:
- Kraft paper bag, sealed with Kraft Tape.
- Cardboard box sealed with Kraft Tape.
- Recycled cardboard sealed with Kraft Tape.
- Cotton bag, sewn shut (if you carefully unpick the stitching then you’ll be receiving a free re-usable cotton tote bag!).
