Razor Sharpening Strop + Stropping Compound Block

Description

These strops are a wooden strip with leather on both sides and they are used for sharpening razors, knives and woodworking tools.

Includes one block of stropping compound so that you have everything that you need to sharpen blades.

Some people are managing to keep re-sharpening a single razor blade for up to six months.

They are easy to us and are multi-purpose, you can sharpen your wood chisel and your shaving razor or even your kitchen knife.

 

Note that the stropping compound supplied is fine grade (so it is suitable for sharpening razors) but it can also be used with a buffing wheel to polish metals. Also you could purchase a different grade of compound such as a course compound if you have a blade which requires more work to get it back into sharp condition.

 

 

Usage:
First apply some of the stropping compound to the leather. This buffing compound contains small abrasive particles. Stroke the blade along the strop a number of times, in a dragging motion, until it is sharp. Then, for best results clean the blade, dry it and apply a little oil. In this manner you razor blade (or other blades) will last a very long time. The reason that you should wash and dry your blade is because the metal blade can react with any material (such as skin) left on the blade, especially if it is wet and this will dull the blade.

End of life:
If the strop is no longer usable then break it apart. The leather can go into your landfill waste where it will biodegrade safely and the wood can be be put with your green waste or be mulched.

• Cotton bag, sewn shut (if you carefully unpick the stitching then you’ll be receiving a free re-usable cotton tote bag!).
